U.S. Open 2023: The USGA had a funny gift waiting for Adam Hadwin following his viral tackle

June 12, 2023

As one of golf's governing bodies—in particular, the one most known for difficult course setups and wearing blue blazers—the USGA has a somewhat stuffy reputation. But even the people running this week's U.S. Open at the super-exclusive and super-strict Los Angeles Country Club got in on the Adam Hadwin fun.

In case you haven't been plugged into Golf Twitter over the past 24 hours, the Canadian went viral for getting tackled at the conclusion of the RBC Canadian Open. Hadwin had rushed the 18th green to try to celebrate friend and countryman Nick Taylor's win by spraying him with champagne only to be laid out by a security guard. Have a look:

Fortunately, Hadwin—and the now-famous champagne bottle—survived in one piece and the PGA Tour winner boarded a cross-country charter flight that took players to this week's major. And when he arrived at his locker at LACC, there was a funny gift waiting for him, courtesy of the USGA:

That's a nice, quick job by the USGA. Although we're pretty sure Hadwin won't wear the construction vest and hard hat—in part because someone at LACC would probably have him removed from the grounds.
